COUNTRY ROAD, OIL ON CANVAS - 2007

This image comes from the hills in Umbria, Italy. I really liked this scene and was sitting looking at it when this lady walked past. It was such a tranquil scene, the quite wanderings of a walker with the energy and activity around local fauna.

I often shy away from trees and bushes in my paintings although flicking the paint at the canvas to develop the effects you see has given me a lot of new ideas. Just as the Shimmer painting was a turning point for me, so I think this painting will prove equally important.

Editions are Limited to 10 full size prints, 20 mid size and 30 half size. All will be relief Geclee prints; that is printed on stretched canvas after which I paint on a thick acrylic coat that gives the painting a very realistic texture and depth. This is an experimental technique which so far is proving very popular.
