GREENER GRASS, OIL ON CANVAS - 2007 140cm x 100cm
This painting is based on a friend of mine who came to visit, that is her sitting on the wall. She was not very happy, problems with her boyfriend and a sense that life was passing her by. She envied my single status and the apparent freedom that bought. I for my part occasionally look on couples and remember some good times, wondering if I will have those feeling again.
Although it was summer I painted an autumn scene to exaggerate the urgency she was feeling and although it was a busy day, only left her and a lone couple walking. I was amused with how Chris Rock put it, you are either single and lonely or married and bored; no happiness nowhere. While that is not entirely true, clearly it is easy to miss what we do have while worrying about the things we do not have.
Due to the large size of this painting, I am going to offer 3 sizes of print and will apply an acrylic textured coat to all the full an Mid size prints that are to be delivered already stretched; 10 full (relief Print), 20 half (relief Print)and 30 quarter size.
